More Than Wood and Lasers:
The Story of The Mad Crafter
Hey, I’m Janelle, the founder and chief sawdust-maker here at The Mad Crafter. And yes, there’s a little bit of ‘madness’ involved in what I do.
It’s the good kind of madness, though. The kind that keeps me in my Everett workshop late at night, obsessing over the tiny details of a mountain range or the perfect stain to capture a Pacific Northwest sunset. This business wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was born from a love for the stunning landscapes right here in our backyard and a desire to bring that feeling indoors.
Honestly, I got tired of seeing generic, mass-produced decor that lacked soul. I wanted to create something with depth, something with a story. That’s why I started working with layers—six layers of premium wood, to be exact. Each one is laser-cut with precision, then hand-finished and assembled to create a piece that you can’t just see, but you can almost feel.
Why “The Mad Crafter”?
Because you have to be a little crazy to spend hours making sure every single detail is perfect. But when someone tells me they gave one of my shadow boxes for a 35th anniversary and it brought tears to their eyes… well, that makes all the madness worth it.
Thanks for being here and supporting a small business that’s powered by passion, not private equity.
